Unlike most metal based products in Australia, Copper is a pure product and does not succumb to the tenancies of rust and significant fatigue like a large proportion of other materials. Copper is mined every year and still there is less than 15% of the known reserves mined. Most of the mined copper is still in use and more than 50% of copper in architecture has come from recycled copper.

Copper has a unique ability to change over time from its original state of orange, to a deep brown through to a streaky green. When copper is exposed to external conditions including air agents, rain or even human interaction this will all impact the oxidisation process and vary the surface pattern or finish.
